Photography
As a journalist, it is important to understand the core elements of photography, creativity, AP Style, and ethics. Photojournalism at NC A&T has instilled in me the importance of, not only the characteristics listed above but also the art of storytelling that exists within photography. I utilize my camera to tell unaltered human-centric stories while paying attention to light, line, and form.
Multimedia
Within the NCA&T journalism program, I have learned to appreciated the full breadth of knowledge that is required of a multimedia journalist. I have learned to write, film, produce and edit content on deadline. My favorite part is the pitching; where you say your idea, maybe it gets chosen or maybe not, but everyone learns a bit more about you, the stories that catch your attention and get you excited!
Articles
The ability to write, in a logical, concise and clear way, is a critical component to being a journalist. I have written more research papers, essays and articles than I can count during my undergraduate career. I have 5+ articles published by, NCA&T's student lead publication, The A&T Register. I strongly believe in both my First Amendment right that guarantees freedom of speech and press, as well as, the importance of writing diverse and inclusive stories.
